I wanted to give everyone a heads up that the Fifth Grade Mass will be on Thursday at 10 AM, with Fr. Brian. Please wear your church uniforms.
Saint Jude Hospital Math-A-Thon Ends on February 26th!
Science Exhibit- I sent home information about the Science Fair in last weeks Thursday Folders. Please pay close attention to the due dates.

Here are a few highlights of what is happening this week in Fifth Grade...
Religion- The students are learning about the Sacraments of Healing. The students will learn the definition of conversion and they will also learn how we turn away from sin and how God forgives us for the sins that we commit.
Math- We are reviewing multiplying and dividing fractions by fractions, fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by fractions. We will also be Taking a Test this week and starting Chapter 7 on Probability and Graphing.
Please remind your student to practice on IXL- Level G exercises N.1-N.16 are all excellent choices for practice this week.
Science- The students will continue learning about different water ecosystems. We have created a foldable to help identify the amount of animals that live in each zone, the amount of sunlight that reaches the zone and the depth of each zone.
Science Lab- Today in Science Lab, the students had a demonstration of a Chemical Change. We made Elephant's Toothpaste! The students really enjoyed this demonstration!
Social Studies- We will be learning about the Middle and Southern Colonies. The students will learn when, where and why different people colonized and settled into the Middle and Southern Colonies. They will compare and contrast the colonies founded in Maryland, the Carolinas and Georgia.
Reading- We are reading “The World of William Joyce Scrapbook” which is an Autobiography written by William Joyce The students will be taking a Test on this story on Wednesday.
Language Arts- The students will be learning new Word Study words this week to help the students to spell based off of the main features included in their word lists.
This week in Vocabulary we will be working on Unit 12. Please encourage your child to visit website for activities to strengthen their vocabulary skills.
In Grammar, the students will be learning about adjectives, adverbs, negatives and conjunctions. They will be identifying the words that describe the nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs.
Physical Education/Health- We continue to explore Personal and Mental Wellness reviewing our Personal Wellness sheets and making our Personal Wellness Plans. We will also play the game of Whiffle Ball.
Music- Students will perform their valentine compositions for the class.
Spanish - We will start our unit "En el banco" (At the bank).
Technology- This week in Technology, the students will continue to work on Boolean Operators, Primary and Secondary Sources web searches and finish working on their Trading Card for an Explorer to the Americas, then the students will continue working on IXL, Videotaping their commercials in the broadcasting studio and the webquest on the Moon.
Art- Students will be introduced to NASA Langley Research Center’s Art Contest “The Future Is Now”.
